New Songs! – Sarah releases Greatest Hits album

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

We’ve all been waiting so long for this moment to come: our beloved Sarah will release a Greatest Hits album on October 7th featuring two new songs. From Terry McBride’s blog comes the following information:

“It is amazing to hear Sarah McLachlan’s voice again. There is a purity to her magic as it’s from a heart that is wide open and bare in its naked emotion. The melodies are addictive, the lyrics personal to each and everyone, and the delivery is both spine chilling and uplifting. The airwaves sincerely need her energy. There will be many tears shed, many in happiness, when these songs get released. The first track will go public one month from now.”

Oh my God, one month from now. I hope you’re all as excited as I am! (oh of course you are…). Also, Sarah appeared on stage in Vancouver this week as part of the True Colors tour stop there, which I will be covering later today (busy working, I’m sorry about that).

PS: If you’re looking for the Solace rarities that were posted a couple of weeks ago, you might wanna check the message boards ;)

enjoy your day of wonderful Sarah news,

New Sarah material?!

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Thanks to commenter Joseph who pointed out the following snippet from Terry McBride’s latest blog entry:

AHHH???!!! WTF?! New material? New album? I think I’m having a mild heart attack.

Old-school Sarah songs!

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I was recently contacted by Sarah’s formed bass player Jeff Sawatzky (as seen in the Steaming video) who send me a link to his current myspace page (click here), which is packed with the most awesome things I have heard this year: a demo (!) of the true Sarah rarity, Captive, as well as a recording of another unknown Sarah song, Temptation. Also, he noted that the rare Sarah song which the we (the fan community) had identified as “Forever Sunday” is actually called Forever Someday. I think that makes much more sense.

Jeff is willing to answer any questions regarding the songs he recorded with Sarah or co-wrote (Captive, Temptation, Trust) so now I’m asking you to drop me a mail with your questions, I’ll post his answers with the next update (in return, if you happen to have some boots lying around from ‘88 to ‘91 for him, drop him a note on his myspace).

I absolutely love the Captive demo and I’m getting sadder as we speak that the song was never released…thanks a million times to Jeff Sawatzky for giving us the opportunity to hear these songs!

Anyways, don’t forget to check back for Jeff’s answers and even more rare Sarah songs and other stuff (yes, there’s more and yes, you’ll love it!).

Love,
Witchy

Another one of these…

I’m never sure whether I should post this stuff but since multiple bloggers have picked it up, I though I should share. After the extraordinarily fucked up gossip blog TMZ first posted pic of Sarah on vacation, pretty much all their commenters and many more blogs came out in defense of her, including one my favourite spots for enjoyable and non-sexist gossip, Celebitchy.

Anyhow, once I start with the gossip I suppose that I should post this link too then, which indicates that Sarah and Ash have split. I’ll just leave it like that because honestly, I don’t really have anything to say about that, it’s sure as hell none of my business.

And now I feel ashamed for even mentioning these things there…

May Updates

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Sorry for the delay but I’m in the middle of “exam week” and that one needed just a little bit of preparation…

Nevermind though, I still managed to scrape together this month’s desktop calendar, to your left! Click here for the wallpaper version, as always. I’m not sure I like it since I was trying to go down nostalgia lane with all that FTE re-release talk but it didn’t really work out the way I wanted it.

Also, there’s a new poll for those of you who have bought Rarities 2 since the last poll on the album indicated that most of you will buy the album no matter what. And if you’re interested, the last poll on FTE showed that most of you would only welcome a re-release if it includes some fancy extras.

Enjoy and have a wonderful day!

Things to distract you

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I know that the boards still aren’t working, so here’s a few things that popped up today…

Rollingstone’s review of Coachella’s second day included the following (cute) Sarah mention:

As though Creep had taken too much out of him, Prince slipped offstage long enough for one of his backup singers to perform a stirring version of Sarah McLachlan’s “In the Arms of an Angel” that left some attendees teary-eyed.

Too bad not even a music editor can get the name of the song right.

And if you’re interested, I also added a review of Rarities 2 to our articles archive here.

Fumbling Re-Release?

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Oh how I love our message board. Today, forum member Matt posted the following:

Fumbling Re-release – Aug 5
I know some one who works at a radio station and this was listed on their call sheet (i think thats what he called it) this morning. Its going to be 2 cds and a dvd. No other info at this time though :(
Its probably just fte, freedom sessions and the fte live packed into one great cash-n, I mean package.

If this is true, well… weeee! I’m not really one for re-releases (though, as another member pointed out, there’s nothing wrong with digital remastering, depending on the album it can be quite exciting), this makes a lot more sense than the Mirrorball re-release or even Rarities 2.
And to quote even more of our board members, Miguel pointed out that all the re-releasing, Greatest Hits, etc. might just be because of Sarah’s contract ending.

Rarities 2 – final tracklist and cover!

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Here it is, the cover for Rarities, B-Sides & Other Stuff Vol. 2 and it’s frakking gorgeous!
Rarities, B-Sides and Other Stuff Vol. 2

And here’s the final tracklist, thanks to Amazon (you can pre-order the cd there, of course)

1. Ordinary Miracle
2. Blackbird
3. Time After Time (with Cyndi Lauper)
4. River
5. When She Loved Me
6. Don’t Let Go (with Bryan Adams)
7. Just Like Me (with Run DMC)
8. Angel (Live) (with Emmylou Harris)
9. Pills (Live) (with The Perishers)
10. Homeless (with Ladysmith Black Mambazo)
11. The Rainbow Connection
12. Prayer of St. Francis
13. Unchained Melody
14. Silence (DJ Tiesto ISOS Remix)

Even though it was the right move to include Homeless, I’m still disappointed by the tracklist. Nevermind though, since I am now officially happy about the album, thanks to this wonderful Surfacing-era cover.
