FTE re-release and site updates

Friday, June 27th, 2008

First off is official confirmation of the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy re-release. Legacy recordings (which also releases Mirrorball: The Complete Concert) issued a press release and here’s the most important paragraph:

[...]The trajectory of Sarah McLachlan’s broad popular success outside Canada began with the late-1993 release of her third album, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, [...] Fumbling Towards Ecstasy – The Home Video [...]. The momentum carried over to a third project in early 1995, The Freedom Sessions [...]
Now, FUMBLING TOWARDS ECSTASY: LEGACY EDITION brings these three releases together into one 2-CD+DVD package for the first time, with bonus material on each disc that makes it a must-have for true McLachlan fans. Fifteen years after the first recordings that began this arc, the deluxe three-disc edition will arrive in stores August 5th on Arista/Legacy.

Now we can only wonder what the “bonus material” will be… But calling it a “must-have” surely makes me think that it could be something that really makes it worth buying (unlike, let’s say, Rarities 2?).

In other site news, I just added a section to the site that has been about 1 1/2 years in the making. It could’ve just taken a couple of months too as board administrator K finished the project quickly (long live K!) but since this was part of a huge to-do list for the site and because I’m a bloody lazy admin, it took me quite a long time as you can see to include it in the site (yes, I do deserve punishment for that).

So here it is, a year-by-year retrospective of Sarah’s involvement in charitable causes.

It may need some tweaking here and there and I’ll try and add 2007 as soon as possible but it’s already worth taking a look at (and then resting quietly in awe because Sarah has managed to pile up a pretty long list of charity work).

Have a nice one and check back next week for some new Sarah rarities from Jeff!

Here lies my heart, indeed!

If you thought yesterday’s rarities were pretty awesome and special, brace yourself! Today’s four-song playlist includes a recording of the song known as The Waiting to Sarah fans, labelled on the 20-year-old cassette as “Won’t Let Anything (shelter)”.
Also included is another, different recording of Temptation and two completely “new” songs titled Madness and Here Lies My Heart.

Jeff also sent me the following picture of the entire Touch band in rehearsal:

You can join us at the message boards to discuss the songs and maybe also share some lyrics suggestions so that we can add them to our song database.

Enjoy the songs and thanks again to Jeff for giving us the chance to!

Fixed!

Thanks to my wonderful SQL support, the message board problems are now fixed.

Enjoy!

I’m really sorry but I just can’t get the boards to work right now. I need some more time but hopefully they’ll be back online today, please be patient ;)

FTE Re-release update!

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Commenter .k. just found the following confirmation on the upcoming FTE re-release:

“Fumbling Towards Ecstasy: Legacy Edition [CD/DVD]” (2 CDs, with a live DVD companion to the 1993 album; disc 3 features the 1995’s “The Freedom Sessions”)
(Columbia/Legacy, Aug. 5, 2008)
- source

And again, I’m most excited about the new packaging the album will get, we’ll see about the rest. Now I wonder why Nettwerk (or Legacy in this case, who sold them the rights?) is pushing all these Sarah compliations, re-releases, etc. this year. In my opionion, this can only mean two things: a) Sarah will release a new album in the fall or 2009 and they need a PR push before that or b) she doesn’t want to release a new album and they’re trying to make as much money off her as long as people still remember her….

Gallery additions and other updates

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

I’ll start with the additions to the newer galleries, One Night Live and the MusiCan performance:

And I have also come around to adding the fabulous Afterglow promo pics that were posted on our forums. Some of them are completely new (as in, new to the site) while others are bigger versions:

I love the second one, it’s pretty fierce. Check the Afterglow gallery for 3 more pics. Thanks to picture queen K!

Other site updates include an updated articles archive with stuff from 2008 (click!) and a couple of new additions to our Songs Database to try and complete the new entry for Rarities, B-Sides & Other Stuff Vol. 2. As you see, there’s still a couple of collabs missing but I’ll try and finish it before the album comes out.

March Updates

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Just checking in for some general updates which include a desktop calendar for March (I know I’m late, but oh the stress) which you’ll find in the right site column and secondly: there’s also a new poll, and this time it’s all about the upcoming Rarities 2 release.

Personally, I’ll probably buy it just to have a complete Sarah collection but I’m certainly getting a little angry about all these nonsense releases featuring songs that most fans already have in their collection (after all, our site is a pretty good source for the songs from Rarities 2…). There are plenty of old unreleased gems out there that have only been available on bootlegs so far, which would have made up an amazing tracklist. Still, no luck there…

Anyhow, here’s the March calendar in wallpaper form
